Update on All Star's

I mentioned here that Ronnie made the Fairview All Star team for the Boys Pee Wee League! Well their tournaments actually started last week while we were gone to Ron's parents, but as soon as we got back on Monday they had their 2nd tournament. The first night, Nathaniel was very antsy - he wanted to be with the team. When coach called him over and asked him to be the bat boy, he was thrilled. We didn't find out until that evening that he had no clue what a Bat Boy was. (I wondered why he just sat on the bench the whole game!). By the 2nd game he was ready to get to work. One of the coaches even asked if he wanted to do the coin toss! Another first for him!

I didn't get nearly as many pictures of All Star's. I think it was a little more than I could handle. Coming home for a 5 day trip to have 3 nights of ball without knowing all the players names yet. Then there was one day off before the next tournament. I did get this picture of Ronnie getting a hit. On Wednesday evening he played on the pitchers mound (remember it's coach pitch) and he got the game ending out with a line drive right to him!

Then, as I mentioned last night (Friday) they began their final tournament. They won big last night and so played at 11:30 today. Below is their biggest fan watching them warm up! He's so ready for Tee Ball!

She's more ready for social interaction, who cares about ball!

Once the game started these 2 did manage to find a little shade by the dugout!

They lost by one run, but they played very well. Ronnie got an out each of the first 3 innings and played 3rd base for the whole game. Then had an hour and a half off before getting ready for their 2nd game. We had packed a picnic lunch so we headed for some shade!

As long as she had shade she seemed to be ok today!

I'm not sure where you're reading this from, but in Northwest Ohio today it was a very warm one. 90's plus humidity! We kept telling Ronnie he needed to just sit and rest to be ready for the next game! He had to be tired!

After lunch we all enjoyed a snow cone.

It was perfect weather for the kids 1st Snow Cone!

Eli thought it was too cold - cold - how can ice be too cold on a 90+ summer day?

Maddie enjoyed what she didn't spill all over herself.

The 2nd game was at 2:30 and I was sure the boys would be tired! But they played another great game and won big! The team is scheduled to play 2 games tomorrow to finish the tournament and their All Star season. Ronnie is done though. I had no idea we would be challenged when our kids were 8 years old to play organized sports on Sunday. Ronnie says he understands why we don't play ball on Sunday, but I know it is disappointing too. He played this tournament and the team has a good chance of winning a trophy, but he can't be there for the championship game! Disappointing, but I hope we have explained well enough why we do things differently!

When we got home this evening, I told him I would get some pictures of him before he took his uniform off! Our little All Star - we're so proud of him!

But first our All Star Bat Boy!

With his Hafner helmet!

So, here he is, our little All Star

and the cutest 8 year old in the world!

He had to use his new bat, the hand-me-down helmet he got from coach (he loved it), and his new Indians batting gloves! No wonder he did so well in those All Star games!

Ronnie Lee, you'll always be an All Star to me!
