Grandma Hornish

Last Friday Grandma Hornish went to her HOME!
Today we celebrated her life!

Her life is one to be modeled for sure.  I pray that I can be half the prayer warrior that she was.  She was the most Godly Woman I know and I am so proud to call her Grandma.  I can't even begin to explain how amazing Grandma was.  She was one of those ladies that you knew if you had a situation or life issue, she would be praying!  I remember specifically asking for her to pray as we attend Missions trips as kids.  Grandma said she would be praying and I had no doubt that we were prayed for daily!  We were on her prayer list - she told us that many times!

I dug out some old pictures of the Grandma I knew and loved so much.  I was excited to allow my kids to get to know Grandma too!  In recent years she was ailing and was not herself.  In fact just a few weeks ago, as I sat with her and knew it would perhaps be the last time she said, "I'm ready to go Home".  Both of her loves were in Heaven and she so desperately wanted to be with Jesus and Grandpa!

While it's painful to say good-bye, I'm so happy for Grandma to be reunited with Grandpa and even happier to know she is singing with Jesus!

Wish more people could have known the Grandma Hornish I knew and loved and I really pray that her ministry of service to others will continue through generations!

No doubt in my mind she was welcomed to Heaven with the words - Well Done Good and Faithful Servant!

Cancelled for Fog

Yesterday morning there was fog, lots of heavy fog.  We started the morning with a 2 hour delay, then went to 3 before closing for the day!  Maddie burst into tears at the announcement!  She was not happy.  I was suppose to come and volunteer in her classroom today and she didn't not like the delay thing at all - and then cancellation, well it was more than she could handle!  She was also suppose to have Daddy and I both come and eat lunch with her to celebrate her "Student of the Week" accomplishment!

She did survive though and Daddy even took us all out for lunch!

We had a great time!  No, I don't usually allow the kids to play with their food, but their Daddy started it!  I'll keep that picture to just us ;)

Ronnie is a way too mature middle-schooler and can't be seen in public doing anything like this, but he was there having fun with the rest of us!

Eli wants to know - why do they call them curly fries when they aren't ALL curly?

We had some fun bonding time together and enjoyed our day off!

Double Digits

Today Nathaniel Blake turns 10 years old!

Nathaniel loves his siblings!  They love him too!  He is the most caring and considerate of the 4 and absolutely loves to be with people!

Nathaniel is a leader (both on and off the field).
(He's in the gold socks to the right - quarterback)

I love those big brown eyes and the little man that he is becoming!
He is growing physically, spiritually, and emotionally daily!  I am so proud of the young man he is becoming!

We love you Nathaniel Blake!
Happy 10th!

Flags

My little man is participating in Flag Football for the next few weeks and I got to watch him on Monday afternoon!  I have to admit it is a little crazy, but Eli is in the Gold shirt below!  These boys are all 2nd graders, but the field is full of little men who are having a blast running, chasing, throwing and just having fun!

Notice the red flag in his hands below!

I didn't have my camera out when he ran for a touchdown!  He was so excited and his High Schooler coach ran to him yelling and picked him up over his head - only adding to Eli's excitement!

I'm afraid to admit that there may be another football player in the making!  I like this flag concept much better, not sure he will be content with that for long!
I guess I better start praying now for the future of football in the Adkins home!

My First Drop Off

So this morning I dropped off Maddie for the first time!  She's been going to Kindergarten for a couple of weeks, but usually Daddy is the chauffeur!  Today I watched her walked into the building with her big brothers - (sorry to the person behind me, I wanted to keep watching!)

I dropped off Ronnie at the Middle School too, but didn't get quite the same reaction.  Maybe had something to do with the fact that there were High School girls coming up behind him - how embarrassing! :)  I waved to them too!

Love all 4 of my babies, sometimes I just wish they were still babies :)

Wilmore Week

I've lost track of how many Wilmore Week's there have been, but we are figuring out how to get through them, still don't like them!  We are a pretty close family and it bothers all of us when we are apart!

Ron won't be gone all week, hopefully to return a little early.  He did have a meeting this morning with his adviser and it went well!  He continues to plug along!  He hopes in the next weeks and months to get a more scheduled time to work on his PhD each week and not have to make the monthly trip for awhile.

We are keeping busy here with Football, Flag football, Golf, school, piano and 2 churches!  Tomorrow I take my baby girl and drop her off at school - it's my first time watching her walk in without me! :)  She has been doing well though.  Ronnie seems to be loving Middle School too, so the Lord is blessing us with answered prayer!

Thankful!

Orange

A couple of weeks ago both of our churches handed out t-shirts for all the kids going back to school!  The plan was for them all to wear their shirts on the 1st Wednesday of each month and flood the school with the message of Jesus!

So yesterday we flooded Fairview with Orange!

The mission statement was on the back: "Love God, Love Others and Serve the World"

Also, Bryan, Hicksville and Evergreen Elem as well as many local preschools were flooded with Orange!

Hiking

Today we wanted to do something together as a family, we decided to go hiking!

We hiked around Harrison Lake!

It was a hot and humid hike, but a fun time.  All 4 kids enjoyed the 2.5 mile hike!

They especially enjoyed the buckeye tree we found - and Maddie thought it was cool that we found acorns after our week studying the letter Aa!

Beautiful Lake and spending the day together as a family!
Perfect!
