There is something amazing about being with the people of our Evangelical Denomination! Last evening we went to Taylor University to be a part of the Evangelical Church Family Camp. It is a week long camp, but we could only attend last night's service, and it was a blessing. There is just something about being with a body of believers and friends and picking up right where we left off with friends.
The Evangelical Church is where many lifelong friends of Ron and I are a part! We enjoyed seeing familiar faces like the Diersings, who despite seeing them this spring have changed so much. Charissa you're so tall and Caleb, such a cutie! The Diersings were with us in college. Then we were married within a month of each other before heading to Jackson to Seminary together! We have not been as close through the past few years, as our children have grown - but Jesus is the bond that keeps us close at heart. I love catching up with Gloria and you can't beat her hugs and friendship!
We were also able to see more Seminary Friends (who are now Life Long Friends): Jeff and Andrea and their growing kids as well as Michelle and a couple of her kids and Brian (although we missed Kara)!
Then there are those friends like Terry and Alice that we say just saw a few weeks ago in Kilgore, but we would love to be able to spend hours with them and just learn from their relationships with Jesus! Really a sweet couple!
Still others that we haven't seen since last years camp like Josh and Rikki! We went to college with them as well and although we don't see them often, we always seem to be able to pick up on our conversations. There is just never enough time!
Then there are even those that we haven't seen in years, way too long, like Lynda, Duane and Jessie! Sweet, sweet people that we enjoy so much! Jesus has put some amazing people in our lives!
Additionally, I was able to meet the Millers, whom I have heard so many good things about and had not met until last night. They seem to be a great couple and I look forward to catching up with them again!
I can't even begin to mention all the people we saw and didn't get to really talk with!
Then the service. From the scripture read, to the prayer, the music and the message - the Lord was Honored and Glorified!
It's so fun to be a part of! We couldn't be there long this year, but I'm thankful for the time we were a part of Family Camp!
