Update on Mom

My mom had her 4th treatment yesterday. So that is the last of the first cycle (every 2 weeks for 8 weeks or 4 treatments). So now on the 19th she will begin the every week for 12 weeks treatment. This will be new drugs that they give her also.

This treatment has been anything but routine, though. Dad was telling me yesterday, when she was already napping (less than 4 hours after getting finished), that it seems to be hitting her sooner and lasting longer. She is fatigued a lot and frustrated with the lack on energy.

Dad was able to take her yesterday because he was off for Easter break. Then on the 19th my brother, Jay, will come over and take mom. I'm on for the 26th. Dr. Williamson seemed to indicate that the next phase of new drugs will be less symptoms. We'll see on the 19th how she reacts to it.

We did get to see her last Thursday. Eli hadn't seen Grandma since her treatment started (which was a long time). We met them in Ft. Wayne for lunch (the older boys were in school, so they still haven't seen her). Eli hesitated slightly (we think because of the wig), but he was quick to get over his hesitation and run to Grandma with open arms.

We continue to praise the Lord that mom is doing so well. I get daily updates on a dear friend who is battling brain cancer. She has chosen not to take treatment and is looking forward to her Final Home with Jesus. We don't know why mom has Breast Cancer, but we Praise the Lord it is treatable and that in a short time we will be able to put this all behind us.

Thank you again for your prayers for mom and dad. Jesus continues to walk with them and is helping them.
