I finally got our Christmas Letter out yesterday. This is actually a little earlier than some years, but with the week we've had around here, I'm just glad they are done and out.
Sir Henry Cole was actually the first to create a special card and mailed it out right before Christmas. In 1843 the first Christmas Cards were sold by J.C. Horsely. He sold out of his 1000 cards quickly and London was abuzz with excitement.
Even those who don't believe in Jesus still long for the peace and joy He came to bring. They can feel His presence for a season without having to invite Him into their hearts. So each card we send that focus's on Jesus can be like a little seed planted in the heart of the person that receives it.
We enjoy mailing our greeting every year and recapping on all that Jesus has done for us throughout the year. We mailed out nearly 100 this year and that many or more cards to hand deliver to our church members! I just love it! It does get a little expensive, but by sending Christmas cards that specifically focus on the Good News of His coming--and the hope of eternal life by trusting in Him--we are able to reach near and far with a message that can change lives and homes forever.
