Tradition and Birthdays

Maddie wasn't sure what to think of a candle and cake. She hadn't had either before and she wasn't quite sure what she was suppose to do. There were a few tears even...

but she finally figured out that she really likes cake and frosting is even better.

There is a tradition in our home, that Grandma Neff makes the kids 1st Birthday cake. It is a bear that she decorates differently for each one. This year I offered to make Maddie's. We weren't sure how Grandma would feel and I wanted to make sure Maddie got the bear too. In the end, Grandma and Pap ended up being able to come today, so we saved the bear cake.

Maddie's enjoyed it just as much as her cake yesterday.

She wasn't exactly sure what to do with the sunglasses from Pap.

She loved the Little People Zoo though.

Thanks for coming Grandma and Pap and for sharing in Maddie's 1st Birthday Celebration.

1st birthdays are so special! I have some catching up to do on your blog. I have been so busy lately, I haven't had time to do my usual blog-stalking. :) Looks like you have had a lot going on, and that your mom is doing fairly well, all things considered. She looks really good, I think. Are you guys coming to camp at all? It would be great to see you!

I don't think we are going to make it to camp this year, Anne. We have our VBS that same week and we need to be here for that.
We are excited about your new Pastor and wife! They were just here today!
Congratulations!
