On Saturday morning we went to an "Egg Hunt" at our Farmer Church!
Here are 2 of the younger attendees!
Let me just say, I am not big on Egg Hunts. I'm not a big fan of the whole secular part of Easter. We don't do baskets, hunts and candy (we get plenty from everyone else), instead we focus on the true story of Easter! We love our Resurrection Eggs and retelling the first Easter over and over again!
So when a lady from our church wanted to do an "egg hunt" I wasn't at all prepared for it! I"ll try to explain the general concept of what happened along with lots of fun pictures!
We all began in the sanctuary, and were divide into 3 groups. Not by age, but by families, which I loved because I got to be with all 4 of mine, not just my youngest!
Our group stayed in the sanctuary first, for the story!
The story was presented by the "handsome" Pastor about the Resurrection Butterfly! He told the Easter Story and he told the story of a Butterfly and the transformation that both the butterfly goes through and Jesus went through! Wonderfully done! From the story, we went to craft/snack time, where the kids put together a pretzel cross with candy and frosting and decorated it with sprinkles. The "leader" told how the pretzels represented the wood of the cross that Jesus died on. The red licorice was representative of the blood that Jesus shed (we used that to tie the 2 pretzels together). Then the frosting and sprinkles were all different pretty colors and represented life!
From the craft time we went outside for games! This was a good activity for my group as we had several 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade boys! Our first relay was an egg relay, but then we did a balloon relay - the kids had to run down with their balloon and the adults had to pop it and then they all had to shout, "Jesus is Alive" or "He Lives". (because the balloon (tomb) was empty) And shout it they did! That was fun!
