Snowfall 12 inches

We had 12 inches piled up when we went out this morning!  It was a beautiful quiet morning!  Love fresh snow that has been "messed with"!  Wish so badly we were out in the country where we could enjoy it!

Ronnie has a new shoveling job, and he has hired his brothers to help him.  Well that means the work at home is left to Daddy, Maddie and I!  It was a lot of shoveling this morning!

This little gal, didn't last too long, but she came back to help with the finishing touches!

Round #...

I've lost track of what numbered snow storm we are into now.  But this is the 2nd for February, I think.  I'm pretty sure there was a little snow before the rain and ice storm of last weekend.  Anyway, this is the 1st significant snow storm of February 2014.  I'm guessing, not the last!

After the boys and Daddy shoveled out around our place, the pile was pretty high.   Ron measured 9 inches here!

Below Ronnie stands with his head above the garage roof!

 And jumps down!

Eli shows that the pile is above his head!

Even Eli is above the garage roof!

Nathaniel didn't want to be left out

He was attempting a dunk, might need to work on the technique of that one.

...and the landing!

After a quick break, they were all 4 off to shovel at the church!  Might be a good idea to get the water hot for hot chocolate when they return!

Wherever you are and regardless of how much you got this round or what round it is -I hope you are staying warm, safe and enjoying your family!

2 Weeks Christmas Break + 5 Snow Day = 4 Kids ready for routine

It is about time for a routine around here.

We have had kids sick and snow like crazy - we need routine back!

Even the atari is getting old.

Even shoveling was fun, but there were days when even that couldn't be done for a very long period of time.

Although there is/was a lot to shovel.

Now the melting has begun and we are on the mend around here.
Routine we need you!

Off on the Prediction - Snow and Bitter Cold - 2014

The predictions that I mentioned on my last post were a little off!  We got 8-10 last week, and were predicted to get another 4-7.  Well we got 13!  So we are snowed in with 20+ inches of snow!  We tried to keep up with the shoveling while it was coming down in order to not be too overwhelmed, but that is a lot of snow!  Now today our temps are below freezing with wind chills in the -40's!  It's brutal!  We are staying in and trying to stay warm!

Here are a few pictures of the neighborhood when Ron ventured out yesterday!  We aren't in the country, so we have been spared some of the drifting!  I can only imagine how big those drifts are.

You can't hardly tell, but Ron is standing in front of one of the piles we have shoveled.  It is HUGE!

We tried some Snow Ice Cream, it was pretty good!  A first for us!

Snow days are suppose to be FUN, well these have been a little different!  The kids were suppose to go back to school on Monday,  but have been off both yesterday and today.  The not fun part is that they have all 4 been sick.  Nathaniel actually started a week ago, so he's doing good now, but he decided to share his germs with his siblings - love it when they finally decide to share!

They are sharing strep and taking turns laying on the couch!  Not so fun, but were trying to make the most of the days home together, despite not feeling the greatest!  Ron and I were talking this morning how their personalities come out when they are sick.  We have 4 very different kids when it comes to being sick - happy, grumpy, "normal" and weepy (in random order)- it all makes me a little crazy!

Hope you are staying warm and taking opportunities to make memories together!

Snow

Today we got nearly 4 inches of snow.  It was beautiful coming down!  The the boys got home and decided to "trample" it!  They all had fun!

The boys had a "snow bowl"

Maddie enjoyed her swing!

Maddie did join the winning team (Daddy and Eli) for a short time before coming in to warm up!

They all 5 had a fun time and enjoyed the beautiful snow!

Games and Snow

We have had a week full of games...

We've played all of these, and more this week.  We introduced the boys to Rail Baron.  Ron and I were taught this game while in Seminary and I don't think we have played since.  The boys are all a little young for it, but they seemed to enjoy it.  Eli came in 2nd and 3rd the 2 times we played!

Then there has been a lot of shoveling too!  We got our 2nd snowfall overnight, so everyone was back out shoveling.  They are loving it!

So that is how we have spent the last few days.  I hope you are enjoying time with family as well!

My Dad helped me put things into perspective earlier this week when I was a little down.  Our immediate family is together and we have so much to be thankful for!

White for Christmas

The last few years we have enjoyed a White Christmas on the white sand beaches of Gulf Shores!  This year it is a White Snowy Christmas!

With everyone working together the shoveling was done in no time!

We were even able to help our neighbor girl with her side walk before the kids decided it was time for football and snow forts!
Maddie and I enjoyed some warm hot chocolate inside while the boys played!

We are have a lot of family time the last few days and enjoying being together with nothing pressing to get accomplished!  Lots of games, some movies and just being together as a family!

1st Significant Snowfall

Yesterday and into last night we got our first significant snowfall of this winter! It seems very late for it and we were pretty excited about it coming! We stayed warm last night with some yummy biscuits and gravy and then sat around and played games.

Then this morning we all bundled up and went to work!

OK, not everybody worked!

she did manage to clear some the snow off the porch!
Everybody worked hard!

It was a very fine snow, it didn't pack very well. Maddie was excited to make a snowman and a santa claus (not sure where she got that)! But she and Eli settled for just relaxing!

He's sun bathing in the snow and lovin' it (just look at that grin)

Eli and Maddie even got their beach stuff out to play!

Immediately after I took the above picture I went to get one of the football game that was beginning! I didn't make it though. The little gal in pink decided that Eli needed a little snow on his head - and down his neck and into his shirt! That cut our morning time a little short!

Eli eventually went back out (after some hot chocolate) and helped the Giants win the game. Apparently the NFC, AFC and Superbowl were all played this morning and the Giants were successful!

Daddy is still recovering after 3 games in 3 inches of snow in 1 morning!

But everyone had a great time!
