2013 Opening Day of Baseball

Today was the Opening Day to the 2013 Summer  Baseball Season around here!
Ronnie and Nathaniel are both on the Minor League team this year (9-10 yo).  This is their first year in that league and Daddy is helping to coach again!  Eli was again excited to be the bat boy (he doesn't care that much about baseball, but he just loves being a part of the team).

Here they are begin silly!

Then of course I had to get their biggest fan in there too!

Ron doesn't like this picture, but I wanted to see their numbers.  Ronnie was 14 last year and just wants to stick with it.  Nathaniel picked 23 because Michael Brantley (Indians outfielder) is that number.

I had to snap one more of Eli after the game because he was given an "official" shirt so he is now officially the "Bat Boy"!

As far as the game...
This is the first year for both boys in kid pitch.  They were not on exceptionally well with their bats.  Nathaniel was frustrated because the pitches were "too slow".  He's used to hitting off his brother. They both walked once and Nathaniel stuck out once while Ronnie flew out!

Nathaniel was also a little frustrated because he didn't get many balls in the field.  The other team didn't connect much either.

Ronnie got to close the game with 2 innings of pitching.  He did Fantastic!
With only 6 batters he had 5 strike outs and only 2 balls were pitched.  He was so on.  He was smoking the ball in.  The catcher for his 2nd inning was complaining that he was hurting him.  The fans could see a difference in his speed from our first pitcher.  And the other team - well he dominated them.

I was worried that he would be nervous, but he was so focused!  He really did a great job!

It was just a scrimmage for opening day and they didn't even play a complete 6 inning game, but they were ahead at the end, so the team wants to count it! :)

It was a fun first game.
Now we have 2 games next week.
Baseball is underway!
